25 year old Jannes Peters began studying industrial design in 2004. He made his intermediate diploma at Muthesius Academy of Arts in Germany. During his internship at Alno Kitchens he worked on a kitchen table he originally designed in his third semester. This table was manufactured and won the RedDot Award 2007. However he realized that furniture design is not what he really wants to do. So he decided to study interaction design in his major study period. Working with vvvv and Arduino showed him new ways of designing interactions. Experience prototyping and hardware sketching were exactly the areas he was looking for during his former work. To improve his knowledge and skills in interaction design he decided to move to Sweden to join the masters programme of interaction design at Umeå Institute of Design. He met a lot of interesting and inspiring people from all over the world at this Institute. And so he decided to take a year off to do internships and travel the world before his graduation in summer 2009. He did an internship with Smart Design in San Francisco and with Microsoft in Seattle. Now he is working on his Master Thesis in collaboration with Philips Design.
